Barre classes use a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. Also, don't be surprised if your class incorporates light handheld weights to bring the burn during all those reps, as well as mats for targeted core work.
Pilates builds strength without excess bulk, capable of creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen. It teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. Pilates also improves flexibility, agility and economy of motion.
Yin yoga is a slow, meditative practice. All poses are done while on the ground and are held for time. It targets our deep connective tissues- ligaments, joints, and deep fascia. This class is lite by candlelight and the teacher embraces each student with mini massages.
This class is offered the third Friday of every month. Spa yoga is a "mini-retreat" type of experience. This class combines restorative yoga poses, mini massages, essential oils, and nature sounds to make a MAGICAL experience.
